Alienware 17 upgrade screen
Hello all,
I have purchased an Alienware 17 machine past July and I really like to upgrade its screen to the 120Hz 3D screen. The problem starts here in Greece with the inavailability from Dell distributor, to help me. They state that they do not have the parts. Can anyone point me to the right direction? Where can I buy the screen and cable? Do I need to replace anything else so as for the 3D screen to work?
Thank you
Gregory

Hi!
First, you need to make sure that your Video Card has 3D capability and you’ll also need the 3D emitter and the 3D glasses.
We only offer the 3D upgrade at the time of purchase, which means you can only request it through Dell when you order your computer. Since we don't have any of the parts available for sale, if you wan't to do the upgrade you'll have to check for other third party stores that might have them available.

Yes, the NVIDIA GTX 780M is 3D compatible and the cable you need is an EDP/Emitter. Here's the part number:

I actually purchased a 120hz screen, bezel, LCD cable, emitter and emitter cable for my Alienware 17 R1, but I can't find where the emitter cable is supposed to plug into the motherboard? Any help?

Oh and if you want to view 3D you'll need a pair of nVidia 3D glasses (Vision or Vision 2 model). If you just want the 120hz refresh for gaming but not the 3D aspect you don't need the glasses

Yes I did. Turned out that the original IR board I bought was bad. I bought another from a secondary supplier and replaced it and now it works great. Just got to make sure you enable the stereoscopic in the nvidia control panel to get it all working.
