A solid white LED on the AGA cable means that it established a connection to the system. Just to be clear, * The Alpha-R2 is on * The TV is connected to the Alpha-R2 HDMI out port and you can see the Alienware desktop on the TV * The AGA is on * You connect the AGA to the Alpha-R2 Graphics Amplifier port * You then restarted the Alpha-R2
Thanks for the reply. To confirm yes to all the above. When plugging in the AGA cable, I get a message to restart. I wait for the Alpha to shut down, then switch the HDMI cable from the HDMI out port on the Alpha to the HDMI out port on the external GPU. The Alpha reboots, the AGA comes on and at this point I see nothing on the TV. I see a VGA port on the TV, I might try that if I can find a DVI to VGA adapter.
Wait you lost me. You said, "I wait for the Alpha to shut down", the Alpha R2 is restarting, not shutting down (off). The TV must stay connected to the Alpha R2 HDMI out port. You do not connect the TV directly to the AGA video card. The AGA works in conjunction with the Alpha R2, not as a stand alone device.
Thanks for the follow up. Apologies, I mean to say waiting for it to restart as opposed to shut down. I have tried what you suggested, that is leaving the TV connected to HDMI out on the R2, but still get the same issue. Unless I am misunderstanding you, the TV does not connect to the Alpha HDMI out port, at least according to this video by Alienware Services:
In the video comments, Alienware Services state "The Alpha R2 will automatically switch to the Amplifier's card when it's connected. You will then need to use the video ports in the Amplifier's card".
No problem Chris, thanks for the helping out, I do appreciate it. I will try connecting the external GPU DVI port to the TV's VGA port when I get hold of an adapter and see if that yields any results.
What they said doesn't make sense to me. The whole point of the AGA is to simulate an upgrade of the system, i.e. the Alpha-R2. I don't know. Maybe an AGA owner can chime in and help us.
I own a Alpha R2 and if I use my AGA with my Alpha on my Pioneer 55 tv it will work great. However that said, If I hook up the AGA and my Alpha to my new Samsung Ultra HD 4K bought in 2016 I only get a white screen and will not boot up. At first it boots up but asks me to restart in order to set up the AGA. After doing that I will not be able to boot up. This is a issue with Samsung. Alienware is suppose to be working on a fix on this, and I am still waiting for the fix. I hope someone can come up with a answer soon. My Samsung model is J9000 series Ultra Hd 4 K 3D TV 65 inches. Check the brand of tv or try a different tv for testing purposes.

At this point, nothing appears on the TV?
