Alienware Alpha bluetooth problem

Hi, about a week after Christmas I recieved my Alienware Alpha. Everything was working perfect until this weekend when I purchased a new bluetooth keyboard to use with it. The keyboard was working fine until today, while I was playing PAYDAY 2. The keyboard's inputs began to lag more and more until finally it disconnected. Now, i cannot find bluetooth anywhere on the computer. It does not show up in the taskbar nor in the PC settings. Searching "Bluetooth" and clicking on "Bluetooth settings" only takes me to the main PC settings menu now. It shows up in device manager (intel bluetooth 4.0) however does not show up anywhere else.I have restarted numerous times and i have repeatedly tried reinstalling and repairing the drivers to no avail. I have also gone into the service manager and set "bluetooth support service" to automatic. What is wrong and how can i fix it? any help would be appreciated, other than that i love the alpha.

You can try to make a system restore to a date when the problem was not present that might help you.

I tried this but the problem persists. Even adding an external bluetooth reciever did not fix it. Task manager shows all the bluetooth software running but the actual settings and program needed to pair the devices are nowhere to be found. The problem seems to come and go randomly, as I had bluetooth functionality for a short while today before it stopped working again.

It sounds like a software issues I will recommend you to perform an Alienrespawn. Let me know if the issue persists after that.

Hi, I manged to fix it by uninstalling the driver and letting it reinstall automatically on boot rather than doing it manually. Everything is back to normal :)

I'm having the same issue where I can see bluetooth in the Device Manager, but I can't actually get to the screen to pair things with. I tried removing the driver and letting it reinstall itself again, but still can't pair anything. I've only had this computer for like 2 or 3 days. Any help before I do a respawn? I have a feeling this would just happen again if I do a factory reset.

Be sure Bluetooth radio on Alpha is actually turned ON. It might also have to be set to "Discoverable" ... at least temporarily to get it working again.

Put your Bluetooth device into BT pairing mode.

Using the Alphas interface (usually in the TaskTray or Charms Menu), click the now detected BT device to pair-it or connect it to the Alpha.

No, like the bluetooth icon isn't even there to click on to turn on or off. It's almost like I don't even have bluetooth on my machine

You said you saw the Bluetooth radio in Device Manager, but what about in "Devices and Printers"?
Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing proper BT drivers for this machine?

Like I said above, I tried doing that and it's still not working. I just had Tech Support take over my computer for like an hour then they told me to use AlienRespawn to do a factory reset, which I did before I called them. My next plan is to use command line to try and work it from there. If not, then I'll have to see if they can take it back

I solved it using the command line and this tool right here:

I installed that and used "btconfig -d1" to turn on the Bluetooth discovery mode again. Just thought ya'll like to know that in case someone else asks that question. I'm sure there's already a command built into windows to do the same thing, but that's as easy as it gets. Thanks for your help, anyways!
Also, this is probably literally the quickest way to do it without restarting or deleting anything. If anyone has problems with hardware, definitely think about using the command line before deleting or modifying something on your computer.

Glad to hear you got it working and thanks for taking the time to post your detailed solution.

These "solutions" do not work.  Not sure is going on at Dell, but this looks to be a severe engineering defect.  I took a chance buying another Dell, this one is going back. What a missed opportunity.

GL out there.
