Alienware Area 51 System Recovery
Hi Guys.
I don't know how but I managed to get a virus, but I never made an recovery cd's, nor did i have one when i got my computer, I thought the windows cd was the recovery cd , so I put the windows cd in and formated the big partition to get rid of the virus but it got rid of everything else too, it installed windows 7 and when it started it looked very blank, all the alienware stuff was gone, and just a plain desktop it felt very cold.
Now I don't know how to get everything back, is there any way I can restore it to the way it was the first day I got my computer?
I tried to goto windows system restore, it can see 2 hidden partions but finds no images.
any advice would be really great guys.

No being you reformated and re -instaled windows. But all the drivers along with the Alienwa re wallpapper and everything you need is on the Dell drivers site. What I would do is a compleat install get everything the way you want it all your main programs and update all the windows updates then burn a Image of your OS so if you ever get hit by a virus again it will save you a lot of time.

Did you instal all the drivers? Do not install the Command Center useing the drivers CD that shiped with your system! It could brick your mainboard or MIO board I don't remember which on it bricks I think the mainboard if I remember correct Infact you should go to support.dell.com click home user then select drivers put your service tag in and the rest of the info and get all the latest drivers if you have any missing.I do not know if it will overheat without the Command center software. I would install it just to be safe or at least download a third party temp monitoring program to check your temps.
If you do decide to install the command center turn your PC off unplug the power cord and press the power button for 10 seconds then plug the power cord back in then instal the command center! That clears the MIO board for a trouble free good instal
