Well after two delays and sitting in Production Status since 11/17/2009 looks my system is making progress to be delivered by 12/22/2009. Current Status is in "Build Stage". I assume this means that they are actively building and final testing my Aurora ALX for shipping.
Just to let you guys know I got some compensation for the delays:
$100 off my existing order, they used this coupon code: W3H6BL6TLKWXVQ
Free PC Game: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
I don't want say how much I paid because I don't want to upset people, bottom line I got a good deal

did you place your order with Dell or alienware? What referrence number did you give? the Order ID? or the Dell Customer Number?
I am calling right now and am on hold... Its long distance for me... but if I can get a real answer that would be worth it.

Net, tried that # and got "in build" also. Good # to call. Sounds better than "in production" or are they one in the same? Keep believing. I'm rooting for you because I think are ship is coming in the 28th. I hope. Later.

I revised the number so you can call toll free direct to Alienware:
800-254-3692
I submitted the Order Number, you can just go to the automated prompts as I believe they have more up to date detailed information than the normal dell numbers.

That just roured me to Dell. Oh well man... maybe the direct number is the only way to bypass Dell's substandard CS support. eitherway. I just don;t want to get in a unfriendly conversation with anyone today. Maybe i'll check it out tomorrow. Dang I wish Dell was not screwing this up!!!!

LOL I don't think that number will give you up to date info at all. I just punched my order number in and the automated system came back saying my computer was shipped on Oct 27 / 1999!!!!!!

just a heads up on that 'automated order status' phone number from alienware, that shunts to dell 'automated order status' - on a whim, I tried a bit of experimenting, entering same order number multiple times on same call - and got a dazzling variety of responses... tried multiple calls in short time frame as well - with responses varying from 'shipping on Dec 30' to 'no more information 'to shipping on Jan 4, 5, 7, 11, 14, 15, 18, 22' - so, to say the least I am dubious about the ship date values on this system (personally, I think they have hardwired their system to an old school "Magic 8 Ball" rescued from an employee garage sale...) - ideally, however, it should be a decent referent when it transitions from the 'build stage' to 'testing' or 'shipping prep/ transit' stages...
my area 51 system exchange order has been in the 'build stage' for 7 days now...
good times :)
