When it initially goes into the un-provoked sleep mode ... is the machine still running? Trying to find out if the whole machine is sleeping or just parts.

Yep the machine is still running. The fan is on and spinning and the hard drive light is lit up and flashes as per usual on the PC case. The lighting effects also continue unaffected as well.

Don't know if this is relevant, but one time it happened as I was watching a clip on youtube and the sound from the video also stopped coming from the speakers, even though the speakers were still on.

Hello, when it gives you the message "entering power saving mode", the monitor is definitely losing signal from the video card.

First, let's check the cable you're using to connect the monitors. Maybe it could be faulty.

Have you tried updating video drivers yet? That also could be the reason behind that problem.

If that doesn't work, open the left side panel and reset the video card, make sure is safely in place.

About the AlienFx not shutting down, there's a solution in my power plans. Please follow these steps to fix that issue in the Command Center.

Keep me posted about the outcome please.

Hi Juan,

I checked the cable and it seems to be ok. I don't think it would be the cable anyway as I've had the PC for about 18 months now and it's only been happening for the past 6 months. About the cable though, my PC doesn't have an HDMI port so I have a DVI/HDMI adapter. Not sure if that would impact it at all?

I have updated to the most recent video card drivers yes. I did this via the ATI website (I have an ATI Radeon HD5970).

I opened up the panel and saw the video card, but didn't really know how to reset it... So I just pulled out the plugs and plugged them back in. When I turned my PC on today, it seems to have worked. But I'll wait to see over the next few days if that has solved it. Hopefully it has!

Thank you for the power plan as well. I have updated my power plan and will monitor to see if that solves it over the next few days as well.

Thanks for the help and I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi Juan,

So it's been about a week now and it seems to have worked! My PC hasn't done it since I unplugged/plugged back in.

Hopefully this is the end of it!

Thanks so much for your help. I spent ages trawling the net to see what the solutions were. I really appreciate it!
