Alienware Aurora R3 keeps freezing

I have an Alienware aurora R3 that has been working fine for the past 2 years, and just recently last night, it froze completely so I hard reset it and today when I was using it this morning, it froze again. I haven't had this problem before and I don't know whats causing it. Any help?

bob2129,

Use the Owners Manual to read up on opening the tower. Once off and open, use compressed air to blow out all of the dust in all fans etc. While you are in there, reseat all cabling, cards, etc.

Hi Bob2129,

Go to:

Control Panel / System

Does your computer has a Windows Experience Index score?

I'm having similar issues.  My computer freezes once a day and the system makes a loud noise, quiets and loud noise over and over again.  I can't move my mouse.  All I can do is manually turn it off and turn it back on. Initially I thought it was the mcafee scan, then I disabled that and the problem still persists once a day.

My windows experience index score is 5.9 and I have the Alienawre Aurora R3.

I suggest you start your own thread.

Does your Aurora R3 still have an active Dell Extended warranty?

What is your skill level with working inside computer hardware?

Entry level, but may be able to outsource this task to someone else.

It just needs to be trouble-shooted like any other computer that is randomly locking up. A qualified computer technician can do this for you.

If it's been working fine over the years (and you haven't changed anything inside) you can probably skip the stuff about poor Out-of-Box RAM Dimm configs (but I would still re-seat the Dimms and run thorough ram tests).
