Alienware Aurora R4 Factory Boot Problem

Question

I try to boot the factory image into my new 240 GB SSD but this message keep appear:-

"Your hard drive size is not supported for this process. Please use a hard drive at least 931 GB in size."

How can booting process requires a 1 TB hard disk size?? Did i create the wrong factory backup disks? I'm currently using AlienRespawn version 1.5.0.0 to create the backup disk, under "Reinstall Disks" section, then using "Factory Backup" options.

Hi stt100,

I suspect your system had 1TB HDD initially and when the recovery media was created. Now when you are trying to restore the system, the recovery media is searching for the same size HDD.

You will be unable to restore if the HDD size is different.

Yes, my pc package includes a 1 TB HDD; but if AlienRespawn software do take account of the initial HDD storage size, then it will be inconvenient as I can't use any SSD anymore in this case in my alienware desktop. Is there anyway to counter this problem? My friend brought the same aurora R4 with higher spec than mine, but the recovery disk he make do not have this kind of problem as mine. How can this be? It's like Dell is producing some double standard program.

Hi STT100,

I suspect that was one odd case where your friend was able to restore the system to a different size HDD. Ideally the system will search for the same size HDD while restoration. You may consider installing the Operating system from the disc.
