Alienware Aurora freezing randomly
Recently out of the box my Alienware Aurora right out of the box was freezing within the first hour I got it. I've talked to the tech support on the phone, he did some test and such on my CPU and etc. and updated my drivers, did a test that took like an hour on the PSA+ thing when I press F12 when restarting.
System specs -
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
875w PSU
i7-2600 w/ 8mb cache overclocked to 3.9ghz
8gb ddr3 at 1333mhz ram
1GB GDDr5 gtx 460
1TB hard drive

I have almost the same problem.
In my case I have hard time to get a response from the machine.
It looks like the machine is busy and I try to press ctrl-alt-del, but after a while I get a pop-up window saying that the system is busy and can't get contact with the login process (or something like that).
When I try to remotely login to my computer, it says it's busy.
The only thing I have to do is power down (the hard way), since I can't get any response from the machine.
I have been in contact with tech support and they did all different kind of checks (processor, graphic card etc.). Then they decided to replace my memory.
But I still have the same problem.
I was considering to re-install windows, but I'm not sure that it will help.
The bad thing is that this is my work machine and causes me problem when I try to work from home (since I can't remotely login to my computer).
Anyone who has any suggestions?

They already replaced my RAM, but I still have the same problem.
Today I tried to disable the alienFusionController.exe to see if that will help.

It's most likely the RAM. Check this thread out if you haven't already:

Many many Aurora users had this problem. PM the mod Dell_Chris M and he'll ask for your computer info to see if you got some of the bad memory (I believe it was Kingston brand). Once he determined that I did indeed have what was suspected to be defective memory, he shipped me new memory free of charge. After replacing I haven't had a single freeze in months.
IMO the Windows Experience Index ('rate your system') is a dead giveaway. Mine would freeze every time I ran that. When I took out all 4 memory sticks and replaced them with the new ones Chris sent me, I immediately ran that program. It completed on the first try and every try since. Again, no freeze ups (and mine used to freeze all the time).

My Aurora R3 was freezing until I used ONLY two RAM slots on the mobo, that fixed it permanently, it's a RAM/mobo issue, do not fill ALL the RAM slots on the mobo.

Thanks, I'll try that.
Right now I have 3 memory modules, I can try to only use 2.

True. I tried 8 different brands of ram, still freeze. Whenever i fill all 4 slots, it will freeze. No matte what size of the ram is. I have to run 3 modules now to avoid freeze.

I changed the virtual memory setup, seems like there was either nothing or a pretty low level setup by default.
After that I haven't had any problem with a frozen computer.
I still have problem with that it is sometimes running slow sometimes.

I have a Aurora ALX that was also freezing. In my case I discovered that the video driver from Dell (Alienware) was the cause. My system has a nvidia GeForce GTS 240 video card. I went directly to nvidia's web site and had it search for my card and discovered that Dell's video driver was much older than what they had. I installed their video driver and it improved my Windows Experience Index for my graphics from a 6.9 to a 7.4!. Video is now fast and no lockups so far.

well, i have to come back on all previous statements that i thought had fixed the issue, thing is i bought the compressed gas cans to clean the pc and all problems have been solved, going from severe to absolutely no problems what so ever.
alienware's and dust do go well together, especially the video cards, in my case the nvidia gtx 295.
