Alienware Aurora i7 920 Successful Overclock @ 3.66GHz
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my overclock settings, could be useful to someone!
I managed to successfuly overclock my system to 3.66GHz and it is rock solid stable
Memory Multiplyer: x8 (for 1333 RAM), x6 (for 1066 RAM)
BLK: 183
Vcore: +60mV
IOH: 1.20
Spread SPectrume: ON or OFF works fine
Turbo: OFF
Temperature wise, only a small increase of 4c per core under load.

Very nice.
Could probably reach 4ghz and still be completely stable.

I now managed to overclock to 4GHz with the new bios A10!!!
Memory Multiplyer: x8 (for 1333 RAM)
BLK: 200
Vcore: +60mV
Memory: 1.60v
IOH: 1.20
Spread SPectrume: ON or OFF works fine
Turbo: OFF
The RAM goes all the way up to 1600MHz but the system remains stable
Well done Alienware!!! The new bios is fantastic

I'd be very wary about what you call "stable". Did you run prime95 for 12-24 hours? I'll try those settings and report back tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.

I did run Prime95 on all cores for about 2hrs only, also played games all the afternoon yesterday without a single problem.
So far, I can really confirm that the A10 bios is a major improvement.

I tried the settings and they don't work for me. Computer crashes the second I load p95. Oh well back to 3.6.
EDIT: They do work for 3.8ghz. Not sure how stable it is because p95 has only been running for a very short period of time. At least my computer didn't show off immediately, so that is a good sign.

Have you tried raising the qpi/uncore? Supposedly that's fairly important to improve stability.

Try: Vcore: +80mV, should help you go through Prime 95 for a couple of hours.
I am now running @ 4.1GHz (205) but I am pretty sure it will not be as stable as 4GHz.

Haven't tried that yet but will give it go and try to go pass 4Ghz.

I just don't think my machine has any interest in breaking that 4ghz barrier :) I'm just gonna call it quits at 3.8, run some tests and make sure everything is dandy. Thanks for the informative post and maybe this can help some people like me who's computer doesn't like to cooperate with them!

Hi guys, I am getting frustrated and have been trawling non-alienware forums (not a lot of help as don't have same BIOS as Aurora, different options etc) and tweaking my machine every night after work for a week now.
Am really hoping I can get a STABLE 3.8 or 4.0 o/clock- have gotten there with both but not stable- ran 3dmark and crysis ok last night at 3.8 but seemed a little buggy in crysis (maybe due to o/clock I am also attempting on my crossfire 5770's too). As soon as I get into a Prime95 test though it crashes out.
The most stable I can achieve is with 19x multiplier as my machine doesn't seem to like the 20x at higher end.
Was hoping a few people who have had success with a stable 3.8 or 4.0 + GHZ could post ALL of their settings in the BIOS please? Struggling with the lot, but especially voltages etc.
I know it's not part of this thread, but also could anyone direct me to a thread on o/clocking crossfired 5770's? Again have been trawling and found a lot but would prefer if someone knows of an Alienware specific thread/site or could send me some advice?
Ideally I would love to hear full settings/method etc of someone who has a successfully and stable oclock of i7 920 @ 3.8/4.0GHz + AND oclocked crossfired 5770's @ 1000mhz - this is what I would ideally like to achieve while being rock solid stable and not burning everything out too quickly (want my macine to last a couple years before I fry something).
Big ask I know, but am sure there are lots of people out there who would love this info!
Cheers guys.

These are my actual settings for the i7 920 @ 4GHz., very stable, ran Prime95 for 6hrs+.
Memory Multiplyer: x8 (for 1333 RAM)
BLK: 200
Vcore: +80mV
Memory: 1.65v
IOH: 1.20
Spread SPectrume: OFF
Turbo: OFF
As for my graphics card, I haven't tried overclocking it yet. My cards are running very hot already due to limited space betweem them in the Micro ATX Aurora chassis therefore I don't think it's a good idea overclocking your graphics cards in such a small chassis.

Thanks so much VASVAS,
Had another go last night (in Australia) and managed to run Prime 95 for about 15 minutes- was BSOD'ing almost instantly before- I think I used BLK 200, 1.6 memory, 1.35 IOH, Vcore 200 and QPI 200. Got sick of it and thought I would ramp it right up and take a risk.
Ran up to 92C then settled back to about 89 on 100% load from Prime 95 so a little too hot for my liking from what I have read. Will have to slowly ramp back the volts a little and see if I can reduce temp and maintain stability.
Also managed to get my Cx 5770's stable at 950 mhz, 1200 volts and 1400 memory. Ran 3Dmark and scored in mid 26000, 26609 I think from memory, so was pretty respectable score. Am yet to jump back into Crysis and see what it's like or run a decent length Prime 95 test as my wife nearly killed me when she woke up and realised it was 2.30 am, so I got sent to bed lol :)
Am at work now but am looking forward to more fiddling on the weekend. Feel that I am very close to being happy and at a stable 4GHZ. Don't think I will bother squeezing out more than 4 as it has taking a lot of pain and effort to hit the magic 4.
Anyone have any idea what an acceptable temp is at 100% load? Have read a lot of conflicting opinions out there. If anyone else could be also be so kind and post as VASVAS has with BIOS settings it would be very appreciated.
Thanks again guys!
Aurora- i7 920 (4.0GHZ now yay! Stable tho??), 6GB 1333 RAM, 2 x ATI 5770 Crossfired, 500MB HDD, DVD burner and Blueray player

hi VasVas
just wanna ask you.. what temp software are you using? because im using RealTemp and i have mine OC to 3.8GHz with these settings
Memory 1520Mhz XMP...Enabled 1600 Normal
BLK: 190
Vcore +80mv
Memory 1.65v
IOH 1.15
QPI Likewise
QPI 200V
Spread Spectrum: Likewise
Tubro OFF
now i haven't done any prime test yet but will be doing soon but im worried about my temps now after looking at yours Idle Temp to mine Idle and ive only set my vcore to 80+
mine@ Idle are: 48-44-48-44
can you tell me why mine are so high compared to yours please? have you added any extra fan- liquid cooling etc to your PC.
another thing how do i set the CPU vcore to around 2,6v? sorry now but im just new to all this OC
another thing do you have the aurora or the aurora ALX?
