Alienware Aurora r3 problem
I recently bought from dell and when I go to turn it on the computer sounds like its starting up but it doesn't show anything on my screen, my screen just says no signal as if the computer wasn't on. I've checked the cables and everything's plugged in right, I've checked online and found out it takes a while to start up but I've tried leaving it for a while and still nothing.
I know nothing about computers so me looking inside it is completely useless. I tried emailing Dell but it came up saying
| Error determining system information. Please try again later. |
and calling costs a lot of money. I haven't done anything on the computer yet as it's not working so it can't be anything I've done.

Well I know the cable is VGA and the plug in the computer is DVI I have an adapter on the end but my screen doesn't have any input options, I've tried both of the plugs to put it in and still have the same problem.

There should be a button on your MONITOR which changes the input type. Such as DVI, S-Video, VGA. etc. etc.
It's possible you may have switched to a different input, in which case the screen will be black. See if you can switch to the correct input type.

If your monitor cable plugs into the compute than you have the proper monitor. If you don't know which cable is coming out of your monitor I suggest you find someone who is more knowedgeable to help you get going. Have them do as CatfishBiff said to do also if your compute has more than one video card as mine has 2 cards and 4 different places to plug in the monitor you need to plug cable into another plug to see if this is the problem. I know on mine if it is plugged into the wrong plug I get no video until after Windows gets close to being done loading.

No.
Most monitors have the ability to accept input from different connection types. Like the ones I mention above. VGA, DVI, S-Video, HDMI. etc. etc.
Whatever connection you are using from your Video Card to the Monitor, this same connection type must be selected on your monitor, or else it will just show a black screen.
What type of cable are you using to connect from your PC to the Monitor? Find that out first. Then make sure you select that same input type on your monitor.

Does the monitor have a dvi output? If so just buy a new cable.

I just bought a alienware aurora r3 and im having the same problem. I unboxed it and connected all the cables like the instructions said, i turned on the pc and it just says no hdmi input detected. I've tried connecting it to both my dell monitor and my samsung hdtv and it says no hdmi detected on both. My pc is still on with a blank screen because i don't want to have to shut it down by holding the power button. Please help me out
