Alienware Aurora side panel won't open
I've followed the instructions by moving the switch to unlock the top panel, which I then pull up so I can take out the side panel but the side panel only moves half an inch or so and then gets stuck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've seen the teardown video and he is able to pull the side panel out a lot more than I can. Mine barely moves out and I can't pull it out to the side any further before taking it off.

That's all normal ... you un-locked it.
Now, pull on the side cover gently and it will open.

Did you resolve this?
I have the same exact problem. The side panel doesn't open far enough to pull up.

You miss the point.
It doesn't go any further. It does not unlatch by merely pulling out and up/ My wife has a similar Aurora and I can remove the side panel with no problem. On mine it goes about 1/4" and that is all. I take it that you have no solution to this. Is there any other screws I can remove to fix the latch?
All I want to do is add a hard drive.

Solved: The problem is that my Aurora is quite longer than the table space I have for it. So basically it straddles what it sits on but is solid.
Now the problem is that the feet on teh corners don't touch so the extreme weight of this computer is on the middle, Which must be enough to nudge something to prevent the side panel from being removed. What I did was to simply put the back feet on the wood table and lif the front so all weight is off the center. Then the side panel come off. Hopefully this helps the many people I see on the web with this problem.
