Alienware Graphics amplifier not working with AMD RX 480
I have just installed the AMD RX 480 into the amplifier, when I start the laptop i get a message while booting up that says "the amplifier only supports Nvidia and AMD cards press any key to continue" when windows starts I get another message by the amplifier software that I need to restart the pc for some changes to take effect, at this point before restarting I checked the device manager and the graphics card was recognized as a generic microsoft graphics device, when I restart the pc the amplifier switches off the graphics card and it is no longer detected by the system, so it wasn't possible to install the driver, I then shut down the system and booted up again, got the same messages, ignored the restart message and manged to install the AMD driver, but it still doesn't work as i still get an error sign next to the RX 480 in the device manager, and every time I restart I get the same messages from the graphics amplifier.

over 2 months with no solution from Dell!!!!
very annoyed at this level of service.
I have found a workaround, not a permanent fix but it will do for now until we get a fix from Dell if at all by the looks of it.
the steps are as follows:
1- use the laptop on battery without connecting the amplifier.
2- when its about 80% or less battery life turn the system off
3- connect the amplifier
4- plug in the charger, keep an eye on the power button, once it lights up to show that the laptop has started charging press it to power the system on.
now it should work and the message about the card not recognized as AMD or Nvidia wont show up.
its clearly a bios problem, so a bios update for the laptop should solve it.

hmm I assume you updated the amplifier software / drivers as well as your system bios to the latest version?
