Alienware M14x R1 poor graphics performance
Recently ive noticed poor performance whilst playing any games, but in particular CS:GO. On Low settings im only achieving about 15 fps, far less then what im getting on my 3 year old desktop. After trying to resolve the problem by updating drivers, bios and adjusting settings to prevent optimus from switching to the integrated card my fps improved but would drop back down to very low frames after 10-15 minutes of gameplay. I have checked to ensure the gpu is running whilst in game. Finally i decided to check the temps on the cpu to determine if the computer was overheating and found that the laptop is idling at about 85C! Im pretty sure that im going to have to either repaste or replace the heatsink entirely but would this explain the poor performance? any advice would be appreciated

Hello Shadow3149,
Yes, the performance and fps can be affected if the system is overheating, the video card will reduce the performance to avoid an extra damage to the pc.
You can send me a PM with your service tag, phone number, and the link for this thread, I can check the available options for the replacement on the parts.
