Alienware M14x R2 battery?

Hi everybody, I have a question about how to disable charging battery of an Alienware M14X r2 battery. As i know, there's an option of disable charge in BIOS of M14x R1 but I can't find the similar option in my R2. I would appreciate any help because I don't want to keep charging as same time as long- term plugin.

There is no need to worry. The system is designed to be run this way.

RenChen,

I do not understand why you wouldn't want the battery to charge when the AC adpter is plugged in? Have you pressed FnF2 to manage the power setting using the AlienFusion software available in the Alienware Command Center? maybe there is something in there for charger behaviour?

Chris M,

It's because I mostly use my laptop for gaming and I don't think it's good to keep plugin and charging for hours. Anyway, I tried out the AlienFusion and unfortunately, there aren't any options about disable battery charging. Do you have another way?

Not that I am aware. Doesn't removing the AC adapter force you away from the discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 650m and force you to use the weaker onboard Intel? For gaming you should want to use the GTX 650m. You could force the usage of the GTX 650m on battery only via the Nvidia Optimus software but the battery charge will be very short. Just leave it plugged in while gaming.

That's why I want to disable charging the battery. Because I plug the AC at most times for gaming, I really worry about the battery when it's plugged in and charging all the times like that.

I don't understand so the battery can sustain continuous charging?
