Alienware M17X R4 died suddenly after “passing all diagnostics”

Hello All

Alienware M17X R4  died suddenly after “passing all diagnostics”

My  M17X R4  does not turn on either with or without A/C adaptor

But attempts to boot with the battery alone. But shuts down after the keyboard light flickers twice

ACTION:

  1. Disconnect all the external peripherals from the computer including the battery and the ac adapter and release the flea power by pressing and holding the power button for about 30 seconds.
  2.  Tried  to turn it on with with the cable plugged in without the battery,  which didn't work
  3. Re-install the battery with the cable unplugged
  4. Turn on the computer and check. Nothing happened except the keyboard light flickered twice without response
  5. Just before the 2nd flicker, you would hear a “click or flicker” as if something is trying to kick in which could not.
  6. What I am saying here is that something is failing before it even gets to POST.
  7. What is it?
  8. It is a shame that a gaming lap top as solid and expensive  as M17X R4  should disappoint and fail just like this.
  9. Experts should tell me what going on.
  10. Could the GPU thermal tape or CPU thermal paste help??

Thx

Hi,

Try removing the Coin Cell battery from the system and doing a power drain again (the first action that you listed). You can follow the steps on the Owners Manuel to remove the Coin Cell battery.
