Alienware M17x-R4 Not Recognizing Integrated Graphics + Graphics Issue

Hello.

I'll do my best to explain, and I appreciate any help!

My Alienware M17x-R4 has the Radeon HD 7970M graphics card.

Recently, my screen on my laptop has become fuzzy (not sure how else to describe it). I have been trying to figure out the issue. i took it somewhere and they told me it was the video card. However, if I hook up an external monitor, the graphics are fine, there are no issues. They told me it was using the integrated graphics when the external monitor was hooked up.

I am not sure if they are correct. My BIOS does not detect the integrated graphics, only the dedicated graphics.

The FN+F7 does not work - it brings up nothing.

Any help is appreciated. My idea I want to try is to switch to the integrated graphics - and if the screen looks fine, then I'll know for sure the graphics card is bad.

Thanks!

Hi,

First you can check if the Integrated card is been recognized in the Device Manager.

For Fn+F7 you can try reinstalling the On Screen Display driver (OSD) here, under the Applications tab (make sure to choose the OS accordingly).

Then to set the default graphics card for all applications, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch nVidia Control Panel.
  2. Expand 3D Settings and select Manage 3D settings.
  3. On the right-side window, click Global Settings tab.
  4. Under Preferred graphics processor: option, choose the desired graphics option.
