Hi all,

For the first issue, disable the Fast boot option in the BIOS, and thest the computer for a day or two, and let me know how it goes.

For the second issue, uninstall the command center following the steps in this article and download it and re install it from this link.

And finally, test the latest driver from the Nvidia website.

1. Disabled, tested. All tests passed (there was no HW problem with the PC to start with. Problem is purely Win8-upgrade related from Win 7 )

2. unistalled command center. Checked path C:\ProgramData\Alienware ... only one empty folder was there "AlienAdrenaline" which was not suggested to be deleted in the article 536385. Then downloaded Command Center A02 and installed. (I also used new installation-destination folder, to remove any file or registry overlap with old version)

3. My nVidia driver is always up-to-date. So there was nothing to change/update. But just to avoid any misunderstaning (because the Command Center should also control which video card should be used in what application - for example add-on Video Card is used with 3D games) I reinstalled the nVidia Driver anyway.

Results: No changes

Details: Auto-Video Card selector - NO GO

Alien FX on/off (using FN+F11 - FN+ ALIEN FX button)  - NO GO

I can ran Alienware Command Center from my desktop (as before) but no positive changes occured since I executed thre suggested steps

EJECT CD ROM button - NO GO

WiFi working properly and steady - NO GO

Please, I still need help on this.

For the Function Keys, re install the OSD driver, click here for instructions and let me know how it goes.

I escalated the other two issues and will get back to you as soon as I get a reply.

Hi,

OSD Reinstall as per article ID: 568053 fixed the button issue.

Now I can disable/enable T-Pad, Alien FX...

so 1st of 3 issues solved, good start!

Now only the WiFi issue ... that is really bothersome (as I was able to permanently enable nVidia VC hence whatever game I play, I get max performance, maybe it consumes more power when I play old-dos games, but most important is that I don't run new 3D games on onboard video, when I paid extra for GTX 675M :) )

I have WiFi router, but I have to use direct LAN cable for this Alienware, to not lose connection 3-6 times per hour. (all other PC's work fine, do not drop connection for months), not to mention that I bought BT mouse and Trackball, which also drop often.... making them useless :*(

Hi Drirr,

The upgrade doesn't work sometimes very well with the drivers, if you do a clean Windows 8 install, that would probably solve the issue with the wi-fi and BT.

When my wife conect to router with her MAC book Air, i drop immediately, and after me she drops to. Then I drop 4-5 times per minutes. It is terible, I can't work an use my  Alienware properly. What actually might help (not always though) is during win 8.1 installation check "Do not install hardware automatically"
This may prevent Microsoft drivers to be installed (which actually are newer and hence Dell Drivers won't override them... )
Then manually install all Dell Win 8.1 Drivers from Resource CD (as Internet won't probably work at the first moment - for me even Ethernet was not installed by default, not WiFi, so no connection possible at all. I had to use other PC download drivers from FTP , support.dell.com and install them)
Always mind the order of drivers being installed. And also reboot after each one :) I was lazy to reboot and had to go through the process once again ^_^
