Alienware M17x Screen Problem.

Hey there all, I recently just got my new M17x a few weeks ago. The other day, I was watching a few films on it to pass the time, when all of a sudden about 80% of the screen pixels start flickering. I have no idea why this has happened, I haven't hit the screen or anything, theres no viruses and I have not fiddled around with anything inside the laptop.

The strangest thing about this problem, is that it only happens when I have not booted up the laptop for a period of time, and it has completely cooled off. When I boot it up after say, 8 hours, it flickers all over. But as soon as the laptop has reached a certain temperature and I reboot it, everything works fine. The flickering is alot more obvious on colours such as grey, orange, reed etc. But other colours like just a plain white or black has no problems.

Anybody else had a problem like this? Or anybody that could give me some idea what the problem is or how to fix it? The only thing I can think of is a faulty screen cable, but I'd like to know if it' something I can fix before calling the repair guys. Thanks.

Try updating the video card driver. I'll leave you a guide on how to do a clean installation so that no old files are left over.

Uninstalled both Intel and Nvidia drivers as the guide says, screen still has the same problem. Anything else I can try?

If re installing the drivers doesn't seem to help, the problem may be hardware related (faulty graphics card or a connector that's not properly plugged in.  If you only just got the system, it might be worth your time to contact support and have them diagnose it and determine if they need to send out a technician to fix the problem.
