Alienware Tactx Headset Broken

Question

My headset has been fine for just over a year now, yet just this evening I moved and the wire twisted and suddenly the sound got all distorted, moving back fixed the problem but only temporarily and now I can't get the sound right again. The problem seems to be just below the volume 'clip' where the mic control is. As I won the headset along with a keyboard and mouse (all boxed and new) at a LAN I have no idea if it is still under warranty though to be honest it should be as just over a year is no way an acceptable time to last for what would normally be a good quality head set.
