Alienware X51 R1 Graphics Card Help
Hello, I ordered the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti OC 2GB PCIE DVI graphics card from Dell.
When I installed the graphics card, the computer starts up with the Alienware logo, then the screen goes black with text on the top left stating the name of the new graphics card, then the screen goes black and nothing happens.
I called Dell and they believe the graphics card may be damaged and they are sending me a new one. But their assistance was limited since my desktop's warranty expired.
Can any of you confirm that this card is compatible with my Alienware X51 R1 desktop? It has the external PSU of 240. Is that sufficient for this graphics card?
I just want to double make sure that this card will actually work on my PC.
Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Yes, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti graphics card should work with this system and the 240W PSU should be able to handle the card. It does sound like a hardware problem with the card that you received so hopefully the replacement card should work fine.
Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you, once I receive the card I will let you know. More than likely I will call tech support when I receive it just to make sure it will be installed correctly.

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear it didn't work. It is very unlikely that 2 different video cards are faulty. This problem could be with the motherboard. Unfortunately, I cannot place any type of dispatch in your account if the system is not in warranty. I can provide you with the part number for the motherboard and the contact information for the sales department if you would like.
Please let me know.

Hello
It cannot be the motherboard, because it works fine I put back the old graphics card. I called Nvidia and they said that the GX750ti will not work for my Alienware X51 R1 desktop due to low PSU. They told me they do not understand while Dell kept on persisting it would work on my computer which only supplies 240 PSU.

Yes, I looked further in to this and you are correct. I apologize for the confusion. We have not validated the NVIDIA GTX 750Ti upgrade for this computer so we can't guarantee it will work at a 100%. The recommended PSU is 330W.
Some of our customers have had success running the 750Ti card with the 240W PSU, click here to view another forum link from a customer confirming this. Since your old graphics card is working with this system, I agree with you that the motherboard is most likely not the issue.

I have returned the card as it won't work for my Alienware X51-R1 desktop with 240W PSU. Can you inform me whether the GeForce GTX 650 graphics card is compatible with my computer? Below is a link to the item. Please remember I only have 240 W PSU.
