I recently purchased a new X51 R2 motherboard online, and the seller just informed that I had to do certain things when I go into the BIOS and insert my service tag. Otherwise; I could end up breaking my motherboard for good.

Does anyone know if this is true? If so, what are the steps, and would it work in my case (upgrading from R1 to R2 Mobo)?

Also, do I need to mod my case in any way in order for the motherboard to fit?
