Alienware X51 R2 - headset issues

I recently purchased an X51 desktop and I am having issues getting programs to run sound thru the headset. It is an analog set, Logitech G230. When I connect them and run the tests in setup for sound devices the test will go thru the headset. However, when I utilize a program, all program sounds will only go through the monitor speakers. This happens even if I switch the default from the monitor to the speakers/headset. This is cross program as well. Nothing will play through the headset, only test sounds.

I am extremely frustrated as I have gaming plans and cannot utilize my headset. I did not have issues on my Dell laptop with this same product. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a means to fix it?
