Alienware X51 mouse cursor corruption
Would anyone be so kind to tell me what could possibly corrupt the graphics of the mouse cursor.
I will boot up the system and as I start browsing the web or listening to music the computer freezes, becomes unresponsive for about 30 seconds then starts to respond but the mouse cursor looks like the above and then continues to freeze every few minutes. Any sound currently playing is just left ringing until the computer starts to respond again.

Yes, so the video card is the one that is damage.
Could you please send me a PM with your service tag to check if I can help you further?

Hi
Yes it happens on safe mode.
I have used other monitors and it still does it.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the video drivers and I am now currently running the latest drivers direct from Nvidia. My video card is GTX 555.
I thought at first it might have been an issue with either Firefox or iTunes however I have booted into safe mode and have done a complete factory restore and problem still occurs.
I don't know what else to do, the computer is pretty much unusable in this state.

Hello Undead Pixel!
Do you know if this happen on safe mode or in another monitor?
As possible solution I will recommend you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver.

Ok good, now to which port are you connecting the monitor, to the built in HDMI or the one in the video card?

I am connected to one of the DVI ports on the video card.

Are you able to connect the monitor to the HDMI port in the top, to the integrated video card?

OK I have connected the monitor to the HDMI port at the top and so far haven't encountered the issue. However I am presented with a new issue where everything on screen is extremely bright and the Alienware login wallpaper amongst other images are now distorted.
EDIT: I have managed to solve the high brightness and distorted image issue. The gamma was set far too high within the Intel Graphics settings.
And still no corrupt cursor or freezing since using the HDMI top port. I think that fixed it. Does that mean I have a faulty video card?
