Try the troubleshooting steps in this article and let me know if the issue persists.

Since it came from Amazon, there is no way of knowing if it is really new or has been resold by them after having it returned to them.

* What color are the eyes of the Alien Head icon on the task bar? They should be green.
Red = Go Dark
Green = Go Light
* If red, right click the Alien Head, click Go Light
* Remove the check from Dim lighting zones

* Right click the Alien Head on the task bar
* Open Alienware AlienFX Editor
* Click View Advanced Mode
* Click My Themes
* Click New Theme
* Check SELECT ALL ZONES
* Double click a color in the wheel
* Click Apply
* Give it a name
* Click Save
