Alienware m17x r4 - 5mins in, black screen
G'day,
I have an Alienware M17x r4.. and within a few minutes of either idling or when i open games or anything else my computer gets black screen.
Where do i go find a service center when i'm not in the country of original purchase (plus, the country i'm stationed in isn't listed in the dell's support area)
Any solutions.. plus, i'm out of warranty and willing to pay for service.
The annoying thing is.. its almost the seasonal holiday, so i can't get anything done..

Hi brothermonke,
Please check if the issue occurs in BIOS page, follow the steps below.
Shutdown the computer, tap F2 during the startup to access the BIOS page, wait for some time in BIOS page and check if the issue persists.
Also connect an external monitor and check if the issue persists.

Gday,
I've done as u requested, in the BIOS page, nothing there.. still can see the screen.
The external monitor will try when i get one.
Everything is fine sometimes.. when i log in to my laptop.. but.. sometimes, just as i finish typing my pswd into the laptop, the screen goes all black.. and the comp restarts. Then i get an error msg saying something went wrong with your gfx drivers.. i've updated them. but still get the Black Screen of Death.. (bsod).

Hi brothermonke,
I am answering on behalf of Senthil as he is on long leave. Request you to try following the below steps which might help:
(1) Restart the computer.
(2) Keep tapping F8 key at the Dell logo.
(3) Advanced Boot option screen appears, scroll down to Enable low-screen resolution.
(4) Check if the same issue happens.
(5) You many also run a hardware diagnostics using the below link:

Make a note of the error codes that appear (if any). Do reply with your answers.

Hi Brothermonke,
You may use the below link and update video drivers:
http://dell.to/1chyx3t
Select right operating system and download video drivers depending upon the type of card you have.
Check if the same issue happens if yes then let me know the operating system version as the computer may have to be taken back to factory state.

Hi brothermonke,
There is a possibility that the drivers may get corrupted which may not be detected in the diagnostics. Hence I would still suggest you to download the driver which refreshes it. If this doesn’t work then do reply with the operating system version. I will check and advised on taking the computer back to factory state.

Hi my model is alienware m17x r4 cpu : i7 363qm 2.4ghz Gpu is : geforce gtx 675m ram :16gb
my problem is like that when i want to play some games then my screen goes black, and it will restart and sometimes not restarting, then sometimes it will restart and no picture at all only 8 beeps. In better days i can play games about 2 hours then again black screen and restart, this black screen also have been in Bios. Also i have noticed when i unplug my adapter everything seems to work cause then only integrated GPU will work, my only think is that problem is with Geforce gtx 675m gpu.
