Alienware m18x won't turn on

Question

Hi, my alienware m18x sudently closed today. When I press the start buttom, it won't turn on. Can someone help me! PS: When i plugged the AC, the light turn off.

Hi!

Is the laptop not powering on at all or is there some AlienFX light or fan activity? Have you tried the AC adapter only and the battery only?

I already tried the Hard Reset, the thing that you need to press the button for like 30 sec to 1min and it doesn't work...

Just to clarify, did you remove the AC adapter and battery before doing this? If not, try it again following the correct steps: turn the system off, disconnect AC adapter, remove battery, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, reconnect PSU and battery and then try to turn it on again.

Thank you Alienware-Naomi! I had the same exact problem and assumed it was a bad power supply so I ordered it. Then I found this discussion, removed the battery, held the power button for 30 seconds, and voila! It works! What would cause this to occur? Some sort of internal overcurrent protection?

Hi I have almost the same problem, I was using mi m18x and it just turned off and the light of the av adapter to, but then I disconnected it and reconected and the light turned on, but when I connect it to the laptop it turns off and the laptop dont turns on.

I am having the same problem and the holding button down 30 seconds didn't work what else could it be?

I had the same thing happen to mine. What happened was I noticed the battery was going down while I was plugged in. I unplugged the power brick an replugged it back in and no luck. I even rebooted and nothing worked. Then the battery level went to 0 and the machine turned off. So i called Dell support and they had me remove the cover and unplug the battery and hold the power button for a minute to reset the battery. I plugged the power brick back in and no power still. Next he had me remove the battery plug and plug the power brick back in which again didn't work. The result it it's either a electronic issue or the power brick. So Dell is sending a shipping box that tracking says will be here tomorrow. I will be using old laptop for 7 to 10 days. :(
