Alienware x51 R1 (probably) upgrade help?
Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my Alienware x51's CPU. I currently have an i3-2120 @3.30 GHz. I have 4 GB of installed RAM. 64 bit. I'm looking at the i5-2320 or i5-3450. Will these make any improvements if I am looking at games like battlefield 1? Also, are there anything else I should upgrade? Please include some links, because I'm a computer newbie. Thanks! Also, I'm running windows 10.

Hi,
Yes, the CPU upgrade can make a difference since the one you have can bottleneck the system.
This are the validated CPUs for this model:
Intel® Core™ i3-2120 Processor
- SandyBridge (3MB Cache, 3.30GHz)
Intel® Core™ i5-2320 Processor
- SandyBridge (6MB Cache, up to 3.30GHz)
with Intel Turbo Boost Technology
Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor
- SandyBridge (8MB Cache, up to 3.80GHz)
with Intel Turbo Boost Technology
Intel® Core™ I5-3450 Processor
- IvyBridge (6MB Cache, up to 3.10GHz)
Quad Core Processor
Intel® Core™ I7-3770 Processor
- IvyBridge (8MB Cache, up to 3.40GHz)
Quad Core Processor
Also, we will recommend the RAM to be at least 8GB. This is the Memory Type:
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 1333 MHz
6GB DDR3 1333 MHz
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1333 MHz
Memory Min / Max:
4 GB to 8 GB (two slots) - SandyBridge Processor
4 GB to 16 GB (two slots) - IvyBridge Processor
Finally, having a good video card is essential.
