With the broadcom update, the installation wizard starts and functions just fine, but the install ultimately fails at the end, and I receive a message stating that no changes have been made to my computer.
Yes, there is some Dell supplied "heavy" Broadcom Suite. For this device, I just use the bundled Microsoft Win7-64 drivers. They must be on the DVD and local DriverCache because there is no network connection to WindowsUpdate at that point.
How do I see what my current version is? For the Intel Chipset Drivers, that is. If the file you linked comes with a fresh install, wouldn't I have it already?
As for the broadcomm driver, I went to the manufacturer's website and managed to update the drivers through there. Was kind of a<ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> however, Dell's system scan doesn't report it being out-dated anymore. :)
I guess the perfectionist in me is wondering why Dell insists it is out of date and "Urgent".
Exactly. See why I don't use those Auto-Tools?
Not that there have been any updates to Intel x58 chipset drivers over the years, but if there were ... Intel would know about them because they wrote and released them.
Screw it. I tried to install the one you recommended and I got the same error "System does not meet minimum requirements". I believe I read on the Intel driver site that the Chipset drivers cannot be installed over one another, and you need to use a disk install or something to that degree. I'm guessing that's why I can't update them.
I'm just going to leave it be. I'm getting frustrated over what's very likely a non-issue, lol.
Well when I run the Driver Update Utility on Intel's own website it comes back as fine. I guess the perfectionist in me is wondering why Dell insists it is out of date and "Urgent".
I believe it comes back saying you have a valid version, not necessarily the most current. The version you have is an older version but valid. Just click on the blue version number in the box stating which version you have installed and it will take you to a selection of utilities. Product family Software Products Product line Chipset Software Product name Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=816&DwnldID=20775&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Chipset+Software+Installation+Utility&lang=eng Current version is: Version 10.0.13
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netlink_k57.php As for your Broadcom, you need to download from the link above for W7 (x64) assuming W7 (x64) is what you have installed. Download onto desktop and extract files. You then need to go into device manager and select Network Adapters, right click on properties, and select update drivers.
Are you absolutely certain that the driver you listed is compatible with an i7-920? Looking at the release notes, it says "2nd, 3rd, 4th generation core, 9 series, atom, celeron, pentium processors". I thought my card was a 900 series, or something to that degree. I just don't want to install it and have my computer go haywire.
You have chipset 58 with a CPU (processor) 920. All this download will do is update Device Manager hardware identification. You don't need it but if you want to stop the update notice then this should do it as it is the latest version.

They work fine for ethernet (Gigabit actually).

I don't use (or really Trust) any Auto-Tools.
For Aurora R1 (with i7-9xx processor and x58 chipset) running Windows7-64 use
INTEL_CHIPSET-SOFTWARE-A03-R239508.exe
Dell Ver: A03
OEM Ver: 9.1.1.1019
Run setup.exe after extraction if it doesn't start automatically.
This gets installed as the First driver after a clean Windows install and first-time setup. There is not usually any reason to re-install it later.

I successfully updated the Broadcom Drivers, :). will see if your advice on chipset works.

It installed just fine, but unfortunately Dell is still reporting that I need the file I mentioned in my original post. Oh well.
