Aurora R1 PSU Upgrade

I know it is possible to upgrade the original PSU the Aurora R1 came with to the Area 51s 1200W supply, but I was wondering if someone could help clarify upgrading to an after-market psu. I don't mind rewiring the whole system or fabricating parts around to make a psu fit, but I am concerned with maintaining the lighting and ventilation features from the MIO board. I was wondering if anyone knew if the MIO board used a proprietary power connector, or if I could use an aftermarket PSU and just plug and play?

I found a youtube video where a guy with an Aurora r3 upgraded to an aftermarket OCZ 1250 watt psu, and was able to retain lights. They said it was simply plug and play, with no modding, but did the MIO board change from r1 to r3? Here is the video for reference:

If anyone has done this mod with the R1 especially, any input would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone knows what type of power connector the MIO board takes for the R1.
