Aurora R4 Front Panel Jammed

The front panel covering the disc drives on my computer no longer works. Pushing the alien head logo turns on the light, but the door no longer slides down. I can manually push it down, but only about an inch, and not enough for the CD-ROM to open. The panel still seems to be on the tracks, and I do not see anything blocking it. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you not see my response?

My door became stuck when Alien Respawn prompted me to backup my system and ejected the CD tray with the panel closed. I released the panel, then CAREFULLY pulled one side of the panel off the track so I could reach behind and push the CD tray closed. I popped the panel back in place and all is well now.

That's from the original posting. How much more descriptive shoudl I be? Use a screwdriver or something to pry the panel but be careful.

Hi Ricochet2002,

Please check if you are able to eject the tray in the BIOS screen. Tap F2 at startup to open the BIOS screen. If you are unable to open the drives in BIOS, try the following steps to check if it ejects.

1. Get a paper clip.
2. Insert the paper clip into the emergency eject hole on the optical drive and move it around in a circular motion.

Let me know your findings.

The issue was with the front panel of the computer blocking the CD-ROM tray, not the disk drive itself. However, I managed to fix that problem on my own, so this thread is no longer needed. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for providing an explanation on how you fixed it on your own. Oh wait, you didn't.

I can't stand people that come on forums asking for help, then they figure it out and don't offer up how they fixed it. You expect other people to help you but you don't want to take the time to allow someone else who may be searching on this issue the opportunity to get some tips.

Could you got in to detail as to how you released the panel?  I experienced the same problem you faced.

I am afraid to just start yanking and have it break.

I have a simple solution for you all!
Put your computer on Sleep mode, then when you press any key on your keyboard or mouse to turn it on again, the PC will automatically reset your CD-ROM and close it. :)

No worries to remove cover or whatever...

I hope it helps!

A simple and elegant solution for when you accidentally click on the DVD drive in explorer and the whole DVD tray jams up!

Would be nice to have a right-click and "close tray" option in the explorer context menu instead of just "eject" on it's own but at least this solution works.

Thank you! This worked perfectly, I thought I was going to have to remove the whole cover!
