Aurora R4 not turning on after fixing cooler
Okay the R4 was working fine but the fan was going haywire. So I took the cooler off, took it apart and cleaned it.
Was very easy after reading a forum post on how to do it. Put it all back together press the power button the computer starts up then off then on and off again about 10 seconds apart.
Pressing the power button didn't do anything but holding it for a few seconds would cut it off. Well I did this a few times and finely got it to startup and stay on but no POST just a black screen.
Tried clearing the CMOS with no luck. The only reaction it would make is the beep code for memory when I took it out. Any suggestions on what step I should take next before I say the motherboard is bad?

radiator system fan to top 'sys_fan' header >< MIO fan sense to mthrbrd cpu_fan header
ensure 'orange' cable cluster is plugged in & fully seated into top right light strip

Can you link me to the guide you followed so I have a better understanding of the problem.
Thanks

Thats what I did. Well now what I did was take the cooler back off along with processor this time cleaned it reapplied now it starts up but says my fan isn't working on my cpu but it is plugged in and running and not running hot at all. Before the hose was getting hot thats why I did the above link.

When you put it back together did you use thermal paste? Thermal paste goes on the CPU itself and helps conduct heat from the CPU to the cooler. If you did use this then are you sure you plugged everything back in?

This thing takes forever to update. I have no clue what's going on here but for one I need a new cooler. I'm going to take it apart one more time cause there is something restricting the flow unless the pump is moving just not pushing. One of the hoses are getting hot just a lot slower and fan isn't going haywire. Don't understand why this thing wouldn't startup with no POST and now besides it saying I have no cpu fan it is working fine.
Ok so the fan is plugged in the correct spot and works but it says i dont have one. What part of the MB determines if I have one or not?

Thanks Cass. You made me realize that I screwed up lol. I didn't pay attention when I unplugged my CPU fan. Who would have thought the fan plugged into the Sys Fan port and not the CPU Fan port.
My problems have been fixed but I'm still confused. Why would the computer act like it needed a new motherboard then work like a champ?
It was working fine except the pump was stopped up so I took it apart to clean reinstall and no POST. Just a solid black screen and multiple cutting off and on for 2 days straight. Then one day it beeps once with a underscore but doesn't go any further. Then the day after that It says no CPU fan (my fault) and no HDD install. I fixed the CPU fan issue last night but still no HDD installed but this morning it just magically starts to work again. This is one screwed up MB they got here. Looks like MSI made it cause there are some circuits inside that say MSI but then again I've been using MSI for years one of my favs and never had this kind of issue with them.
FYI to up above this R4 I have I just got like 2 weeks ago bought it from someone for $300. Fan was loud very loud but it wasn't overheating had temps about the same as a CPU with a factory heat sink on so didn't mind. But then it got annoying lol. So I looked into it and felt one of the hoses were really hot so I went to google and saw the tutorial on how to clean the pump. Then all this happened think I'll stick with making my own computers but I had one heck of a deal. Thank again for yawls help :)

Its actually a built in safety measure to prevent a boot without having the CPU fan plugged in. If it would of booted in your case it probably would of been fine, but I'm sure you can imagine a situation where someone forgot to plug it into anything, started the PC and then the CPU overheated minutes later (which could fry it). Also, its a feature that prevents a boot when no heatsink is installed, because if you don't have a heatsink on the CPU then its dead in seconds.
So all in all its a safety feature that prevents damage to the CPU and motherboard.
However, I am surprised that the PC didn't display CPU_FAN Missing or something before restarting each time.

01YGW is the larger 38mm premium kooler for R4, plug n' play, doesn't clog:
Aurora - Premium Liquid Cooling option- DPN: 01YGW

Yeah everything was hooked up the only thing I did wrong was put the cpu fan plug into the cpu fan port instead of the sys fan port. All the black screens and stuff were happening and then started working just said no cpu fan was hooked up but all I had to do was press f1. Then I saw Cass's pic. It was never started without anything hooked up so therefore it should never have given me a black screen. I took the CPU Cooler apart again and tried to clean out the splines but it didn't help it was making my CPU run at 90 degrees Celsius. I bought me a Corsair h80i and now it runs at 24 degrees Celsius. The only bad thing is now is the fan stick out so far that the back to memory ports are blocked so I'll just have to run off of 16 GB.
