Bios file and chip needed
I'll keep this short as possible but basically my Alienware (3 years old) wouldn't turn on, not even boot to the bios screen. I took it into a shop last month (25th August) and they said it was the motherboard and I should order one from America. I took it to another person who kindly looked at it for a solid week and narrowed down to not the motherboard but the 'bios file and chip'. He said Dell don't provide the 'binary file we need' and he's asked me to ask you for it. Could you please provide me with one here are all my details...'MS-7591 DELL Alienware Aurora ALX IX58 LGA1366 Motherboard'.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, Is there any possible way to get it? It's the difference of spending a few quid to a few hundred pounds plus ordering it from USA (not to mention time scale also). Also if there is a phone number/email or someone I can chat directly who could hear my situation I would be eternally grateful also.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi HollowayA,
Dell does not provide EEPROM program as its factory installed on the chip of the system board. My suggestion is to replace the entire motherboard.

Is there anywhere in UK I can purchase one? Or an alternative?

HollowayA,
DELL-Shrikanth G is correct. All we provide is the Bios update files on the File Library. We do not send out the actual CMOS chip which is affixed to the motherboard. To get the CMOS chip, you must purchase a replacement motherboard.

You have the Aurora-R1. There are three Dell part numbers you can use when searching UK sites:
7XR8X, 92JYY, 4VWF2

Hi HollowayA, if you know the exact chip you need and the repairer who gave you that information can do component level repairs then try these people
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BIOS-CHIP-DELL-ALIENWARE-M18x-M17x-M17x-M15x-M14X-M11x-X51-R3-R2-R1-Aurora-/171002777733?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d08f5085
This link is for a M18x BIOS chip, but I believe they sell many others, send them an email and ask, they are only $35US each! I hate to sound like a greeny, but we have to stop throwing out things like motherboards just because a chip the size of a fingernail is faulty :). My friend started doing component level repairs on Dell stuff a couple of years ago, and I remember how much trouble he had trying to get the "codes". I think in the end he bought them from someone.
