Hello Rajor,

I would suggest doing a clean re-installation of video drivers.
Please follow the steps mentioned below.

-- Uninstall the Catalyst Control Center from the Program and Features.
       1. Click on start.
       2. Click on Control Panel.
       3. Program and Features.
       4. Uninstall every program related to ATI Catalyst Control Center.

-- Delete the folder named Video from the Dell Drivers Folder.
       1.  Click on Start.
       2.  Click on Computers.
       3.  Open the C Drive.
       4.  Open the Folder named Dell.
       5.  Open the Folder named Drivers.
       6.  Delete the Folder named Video.

-- Uninstall the Video Drivers from the Device manager.
Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Display Adapters (Right Click and uninstall the ATI Radeon HD 7970M).

-- Please do check in the startup items as well, if there is anything related to ATI Catalyst Control Center. Disable it.
Start -> Run -> MSCONFIG -> Start Up.
Restart the computer.

Download and Install the latest video drivers from the following link:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/alienware-m17x-r4?driverId=N3GM1&osCode=W764&fileId=2991747914
Download and Install it. Restart the computer and check if it works.

Please try the steps and post the results, would be glad to help you further.

Tried that exactly, first time it blue screened part-way through installation, second time it worked, but I tested by running several programs that I knew had caused a blue screen error before, and it again blue screened. I followed the steps exactly as shown and everything was successful with no errors

Hello Razor,

Thank you for replying. From your post, I understand that issue is resolved. Is there any thing else that I may help you with?

Definitely not resolved. I'm still blue screening with the same error. I meant the deletion, uninstallation, reinstallation, all that was successful, but the actual issue is still unresolved

RazorTehBlade,

* Remove the Microsoft .NET Framework software via Programs and Features
* Restart the system
* Download and install a fresh copy of 4.0 http://bit.ly/KQc9BI
* Restart the system
* Download dotnet.exe from here: http://pages.suddenlink.net/downloaddell/dotnet.exe
* Save the file to your windows desktop
* Run it and verify 4.0 is installed

Test your applications.

Still blue screening. Attempt to reset the display adapter failed or something like that. This is just ridiculous. I shouldn't pay thousands of dollars for something I can't even use for the primary intended use it was designed for, or anything to do with graphics (Like, everything computers can possibly do)
