Brand new Alienware Aurora, really loud fan
Hey, I got my Alienware Aurora desktop two days ago and it's been great. But ever since I first turned it on, it has made this really loud, quite soothing fan noise. It's not affecting it's performance in any way, but it's a little too loud and I can't even hear my audio over it, with sound cranked! Any tips on how to make my PC more quiet?

The best section to post this in, would be the Alienware Owners Club HERE.
Also, as this is a brand new system, you should consider contacting Dell ASAP about the issue.

When I first start up my Aurora, it is also noisy, but once it makes it through its BIOS (not a fast procedure by any stretch of the imagination) it quiets right down. Maybe your fan stays in that start up mode. Good luck with it. For the rest a super computer!!

Thanks for the reply, I figured it out - I'm an idiot. You just have to go to the Alienware Command Center and change the RPM on the fans

I finally fixed this issue after 3 years! So the Alienware Aurora comes with software called Alienware Fusion Controller or something similar. It has a feature called Thermal Controller which controls your fan speed.... you can see where I'm going with this?
Well the default speed is for fans to run at 100%, always. Terrible, I know. So to reset it, it takes a little trick. Open up Fusion, then open Thermal Controller. Set the fan speed to MANUAL ffirst, then reset it to Auto, now it should be truly auto and truly quiet! (unless you're putting in a lot of CPU demand.) It will still get louder as you put the CPU through it's paces, like a heavily modded Ultra settings Skyrim, but the vast amount of time it will be quiet, and it will still never be as loud as 100% even with games like Skyrim.
