CPU/GPU fan whine

Having the fan whine sound/issue with brand new Alienware 15 R2. On both CPU and GPU fans when they start to spool up over 2500 rpm. Also the only way the fans actually work properly is with the addition of HWINFO program, otherwise the fan never speeds up with excess heat. Hi,

Are you running the latest Bios version? If not, click here for the download link. After installing the new Bios, test the fans again.

That Bios "update" just turned my laptop into a $2600 brick...what now?

It's just cycling trying to start windows but it won't start up. I ran the diagnostic utility and it says everything is fine however windows won't start after exiting the utility. The only thing I can do is hit f2 or f12 which doesn't do much good. I think I may need a recovery USB.

Done. I'm thinking that the PCIe drive is hooped. It won't show up in command prompt or in diskpart. It thinks the D: is now the C:...very strange.

With a brand new system I can't see having the need to upgrade a BIOS before looking into other minor issues.

If you search the web fan whine seems noticeable in the 2400 rpm range for whatever reason. A simple solution is to adjust the fan curve to limit this 2400 rpm range influence.

Best of luck with your brick.
