Can I install Windows 7 on Alienware 17 R3?

I'm assuming it's technically possible, but are the available drivers going to support the newer hardware?

(I don't want to run Win 8.1 or Win 10 due to security concerns, spyware, etc.)

Are there any major drawbacks to running Win 7 on this laptop?

Thank you for any help or advice!!

The drawback of running Windows 7 vs 10 is the intelligence of task handling with process and memory is not as mature.

The reason why 10 has better performance than 7 is it allocates the power more wisely.  People who don't know this think 7 is better because it has features that you can turn off like windows defender.

You should only go 7 if you have software that cannot be used in 10 no matter what due to app support being dead like ambX lighting system and other software for programming legacy devices.

Precision Mobile 7710 and Alienware 17 R2 Windows 7 64bit drivers can be used. Missing drivers can be download from Manufacture website. You will need to download from intel website Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_4.0.0.36 extract it and copy windows 7 drivers folder to root directory of the SATA drive. You will need it for window 7 to read the drive. If you are installing windows on nvme M.2 drive than that driver also needs to be copied. Once drives are visible, delete all partitions on all drives and install on the unpartition space.
