Confused about liquid cooler assembly part number (HRGD5 vs XF23D)
I'm looking to pick up a liquid cooling assembly for an Aurora ALX 1, but am unable to work out the difference between part HRGD5 and XF23D.
According to Chris M on 6-4-2011:"HRGD5 = R1/R2/R3 Standard non-liquid heatsink and XF23D = R1 Liquid Cooling".
Yet the HRGD5 is advertised as liquid cooling- and both parts appear identical.
What am I missing?

Agreed.
DHaran, remember that a similar Asetek unit is used in the Area-51, but the connectors are slightly different, so it won't work in an Aurora.
Also, I wouldn't buy a used one. Get a new one from Dell Spare Parts.

Hi thanks for the replies. I am trying to find out how the two models (HRGD5 and XF23D) differ so that I can select one or the other. Most auction sellers are advertising both units with the same stock photo. Both models are new on eBay --they look the same in every way to my eyes. Which to go for?
Thanks again for any clarification

Hi dharan77,
I did a research and the parts you mentioned before are not the same, the Part# XF23D stands for the CPU liquid cooling system and the part# HRGD5 is the heat sink assembly, where the liquid cooling needs to be installed. If you are looking to purchase the parts send us an e-mail to alienwareupgrades@dell.com please include the service tag, phone number and brief description of your request, we can help you get the correct parts.
