Dell Alienware vs Pre Dell Alienware.
All i could say here in summary is I am very very totally happy with Dell take over of Alienware:
Prices are reflective of market prices.
Phone Service very good now used to be horrible before, worse pre Dell. in 2009 Dell phone service was bad but nowhere near as bad as pre Dell Alienware. 2011 Dell phone service has improved dramatically.
Warranty with Dell Alienware is top notch they don't steal our money they actually will look after their customers. This sadly cant be said about pre Dell Alienware but thank God they are no longer operating.
However there will always be something that will go wrong and unfortunately it is not isolated to only Dell product. All that concerns aside, you are safe with Dell.
I tried to build my own PC with all the top notch parts and components money could buy, believe me it's a lot more expensive then Dell Alienware products. The only difference between building your own and buying Dellianware - warranty. Dellianware has warranty where as the parts you buy will be hard press trying to get any shops to replace the parts 11 months down the track.
I have had this problem before with warranty on parts I buy, all computer shops will not log your personal details down and which parts you bought. They rely on you losing your receipts so you will be hard pressed getting any warranty.
My conclusion, I will be buying more Alienware from Dell, very happy with their warranty that's my number concern.

lol "all games for the next few years". This is what Alienware buyers actually believe.
How much did you pay for your system, Morblore?

I'm still waiting for the right price on a used XPS 730 case on E- bay for a project. I liked all the 700 cases- the BTX was a set back though.

Yea honestly the Aurora cases are the only ones I like they are flashy but not TOO TOO flashy. The other cases take it wayyy too far.

I personally think the best looking case was the XPS 730x. There was just something different about that chassis.....it felt like a completely solid case. The metal much more dense and durable than these Alienware chassis. Just the aesthetics were more than enough for me to buy it. Mine was exactly like the one above, Stealth Blue with the X-Panel and H2C. I dumped a lot of $$$ on that system.
I wish I still had that machine......
I love the Alienware chassis too, but I liked the 730x more.

LOL I just helped my neighbor building a pc. He bought all the parts and let me put them together. I cant believe how easy it is not in 2011 to build pc.
i used to be so scared of water cooling but the corsair H70 was so easy omg i can now build my own pc hhehehehe. Adding CPU to mother board then adding water cooling ontop of it was so easy :). Next i put the rams in then then video card then i shoved the whole thing inside a corsair tower case. Then i put in the power supply, next i add blue ray drive then hard drive then plugged all the power cables to the Mother board and PCIE video cards (SLI system).
Lastly all i did was put all the wirings to reset/power/HDD Led all that took me so very short time.
Now i know how to build a system omg i cant believe how easy it is now in 2011. Finally i could build my own rig :)

Grats! ! !
Now,
When he can't install a driver he will be calling you.
When a part fails he will be calling you.
When it wont boot next week he will be calling you.
When it gets a BSOD the week after that he will be calling you.
When he picks up a virus and has to reinstall the OS he will be calling you.
When it overheats he will be calling you.
When it makes a funny noise he will be calling you.
When the littlest of things happen...he will be calling you.
J/K I'm sure there will never be any issues with it I mean computers never break, right? Just make sure he doesn't know where you live..oh wait it's your neighbor. hmm...RUN!
I'm just having fun with you but if he does bug you then tell him you charge $50 an hour for phone support and $65 ( $150 if you wear a bikini ) an hour for in home service....that will fix it.

OH ok thanks for the info i just put a hold on the order I heard the sandy bridge is flawed and that intel made a recall on those chips?
Warranty is the main reason why i hate building my own pc. 2 to 3 weeks down time is a no no for me. That's why i had always bought from Dell they replaced my dead motherboard within 2 hours. I hope my mother board and cpy are not going to die on me because of that incompetent technician that was at my house.
I rang dell yesterday to get me a new technician with some thermal to fix what the other guy didn't do. Guess what? After I spoke to Dell that same idiot technician rang me today telling me he is on his way to my house even after Dell had promised to send me their senior technician.

1) Don't get the Thermal Remover..use a paper towel and rubbing alcohol. Save the $10 for ice cream.
2)The PSU is good but if you can get the Silverstone 1500. Gives you more room for upgrades.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256054&Tpk=silverstone%201500w%20PSU
3)The Vertex SSD's are really good but I would go with the Intels because if anyone is going to have trim support in raid it will be them.
4) Asus Rampage is junk..very unreliable. Read the Asus forums or the reviews on Newegg.
Asus is having issues with the 6gb sata ports plus the Formula doesn't have the 4pin molex. The formula is the way to go between all the models because all the other features on the Extreme like wireless overclocking are more or less gimicks. But I would get the Extreme if you plan on doing 3-way SLI for that 4-pin molex connector. Another thing is many of the Asus Rampage boards are DOA. If you read the reviews 34 people out of 100 got a DOA and some are on their 2nd ,3rd,4th and yes even 5th RMA and thats not counting the 2 and 3 eggs reviews. Thats a lot of dead boards if you ask me. If you get a DOA and they replace it you will get a re-furb. Thats not a big deal to me but others here don't like Dell replacing their stuff with refurbs so I had to put that out there. You will also be looking at up to two weeks down time. They wont send you a board untill they recieve the old one. All in all it looks like it's abouta 50/50 shot at getting a working board. Read Asus forums..DOA is a very common problem with this board.
If I was going to get an Asus Rampage and doing 3-way SLI I'd get this but you got the GPU's already. But again..read the reviews and understand what you are getting into:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131642&cm_re=ASUS_Rampage_III-_-13-131-642-_-Product
The rest seems fine but if you can wait a month Intel will have the Sandy Bridge replacment for the 980x out. That will be a better CPU but atm the 980x is the best. I would hold out for the Sandy Bridge plus it needs it's own motherboard so you can't even buy the board now and use a CPU you have laying around. You will have to wait.
Then again you bought everything already..gawd :) I think it's all fine but that motherboard worries me. I sure hope you don't get a lemon. If you need any help just post on the forums or send me a PM.
Edit: Oh one more thing. If the board is bad and it needs to be RMA try to get them to upgrade you to the Extreme. They can do it if they want to so just cry a little and give them a sad story..

I like you, Morblore; I like you... Keep killing the trolls!
I prefer buying, instead of building; but at the same time, I'd love to learn how to build --but I'm not willing to spend money on replacement parts that I fry, if they fry. :P
I've been having problem after problem with my new ALX; however I never hit a permanent dead end; only temporary annoyances when the tech isn't sure how to fix a problem. Every problem he can't fix, he will start sending me parts.
I will be on my third computer soon; it's currently in production. I told him I'm completely unsatisfied with my purchase. For how much I spent on this computer, I demand perfection. When you buy a new car, you expect it to be a new car; without dings or problems. Thus he promised that he will overseer this following computer, and told me it will be a brand new computer (as it should be), instead of refurbished.
I'm still fairly unsatisfied though. The GPU's that were on this computer, 3 months ago when I bought it, were Dual 2GB ATI Radeon HD 5970's, which are fairly expensive. They no longer allow you to purchase your PC's with them anymore, on their website; instead they sell Dual 2GB ATI Radeon HD 6950's. I reconfigured my computer on their website just to see how much I was losing, and I'm losing about $500.00 from the switch. I found out, thanks to M3TH0D1C4L (or however you spell his name), that I could just swap my current 5970's; however, he suggests that I just forget the $500 (since the tech won't do anything about the loss) and I take the 6950's and unlock them; suggesting I will be much happier with those cards. I'm still thankful that he responded and gave me stuff to ponder on.

Yeah sending us refurb part as new really cheesed me off. I was a victim, i bought this ALX Aurora brand new a few months ago Dell sent me a refurbished one :(
If i didnt see all the dents and scratches on the computer i would have never known it was refurb.

Yeah and the SB replacment for the 980x isn't even out yet. I don't know if the recall will have them hold the release for the 980x replacment or not. If it does you may be looking at an extra month I think at most.

The Sandy Bridge Extreme is not going to be released till the end of the year so the 980x will remain intels flagship untill then.
