Display Driver crashing and causing it to go into power save mod

Hi there I have an Alienware Aurora basically when I'm trying to play arma 3 or any game that uses up a lot of memory my display driver keeps crashing and I dont know what is causing it. I'm running the GTX680 graphics card.

I've used the Nivida Geforce experiance to update my graphics but to no success i've also gone onto the Dell website and downloaded and updates i might of had for the drivers the only thing that has changed since doing this is that when ever it crashes into power save mod some times it will freeze my pc and wont come back but the times it does come back it no longer say's the message that my display driver has stopped working.

Hi,

Are you running the latest system Bios firmware? You can download the latest Bios version from the Dell support site. Also, try running a video card stress test using the Support Assist software. Follow the steps below to do this.

  • Open Support Assist
  • Click on the Checkup option
  • Click run custom scan
  • Click on the NVidia GTX 680M card
  • Select the Stress Test option

Let us know how it goes with the test.

Hi,

Unfortunately, there may be a hardware issue with the video card. Do you have a way of testing the video card with another system or testing another video card with this system?
