Hello rayzs!

There is a big possibility that the system is trying to boot from the external hard drive that’s why you are getting the blue screen.

What happen if you plug in the hard drive when the computer is on?

Thank you for responding while I tried at first to plug it in while the computer is running because it is a plug-and-play external hard drive and a computer immediately shut down and restarted with the blue screen so I unplugged it and let the computer boot backup and everything was fine with the external hard drive disconnected. So I tried while the computer was running and I plugged it into the 2.0 port and the computer found external hard drive and everything was fine. So is it possible maybe something wrong with the 3.0 port. They while back I used to have my Bluetooth dog plugged into the 3.0 port and it worked fine for that.

Which brand is the external hard drive?

As well you can try to reinstall the driver of the usb 3.0; you will find it on support.dell.com

Sorry about that I should put that in my last post. I have the Aurora-R4 with Windows 7 64-bit is this the driver you're talking about? Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver I can send you a copy of the entire thing including the service tag number if you wish. If that will help. I don't want to uninstall the wrong item.

It depends in the model of system that you have and if you are running on windows 7 or windows 8,

Just go the device manager and under universal serial bus controllers select the USB 3.0 do right click and uninstalled.

Restart the computer and go to the support website, you can search the driver with your service tag or by the model, download the driver that is called Intel USB 3.0 controller and run it.

As well I will recommend you to check if that external hard drive needs a firmware in order to run properly.
