Problem 1: When i press FN+F7 it asks me if i want to switch graphics when i click yes nothing happens? * FN F7 = Toggle between Clone and Extended Modes when an external display is connected You need to use the Nvidia Optimus software to assign an application to either the High Performance Nvidia GPU or the Integrated Intel GPU.
Problem 2: i want to setup alienFX that when VLC.exe is the active window ALL leds turn off automaticly without to have to rightclick and choose turn off. Now i cant seem to turn off the mediabuttons, alienware logo and the touchpad leds. * You should setup an AlienFX profile using application VLC.exe that changes all LEDs to black.
Problem 3: also i want to be able to change led color when i get a new email (gmail) dont know if there is software for that. * No idea.
Problem 4: how do i install alienadrenaline on my system cause i dont have it. * I cannot find it as a download. Did you check the Resource DVD?
i dont have Nvidea i have a ATI 6990. i've tried it. i cant get zone 8 and 9 to set to black color, i can pick any other color exept black. (made a new theme, clicked advanced, added vlc.exe (but you can try it with any other exe too) then selected each zone and set it to black then when i switch over to vlc the lights go out except zone 8 and 9 they stay lit and i cant disable the leds. i thought there would be something for gmail since i dont use outlook express. dont have access to recource DVD right now.
I did try to help. But I do not have the M17x-R3 here. So I am using the online tools. I figured maybe another user who actually has the M17x-R3 in front of them could offer an insight I could not.
im sorry to get it out on you but to me it seems that im getting punished for saying 300euro not buying the laptop from dell directly. to me it looks like that you guys want to get back at me by not giving any support even though it shouldnt realy matter from where i bought it i did buy a alienware laptop and i should get the same support as other people buying from dell. at the time i didnt have the money to buy all the upgrades i wanted so i bought a similar laptop from somewhere else because the dell representative told me i could upgrade at anytime. and now that doesnt seam to be the case for europe costumers cause i cant find it anywhere on the site). i want to start with an update to killer wireless and later with extra ram and maybe 3D screen but dont know if that works with 6990. also im not an expert but neither am i a beginner and i was kinda mad because the FN +F7 thing im pretty sure it started after a few drivers update and not because of anything i did. the fn+f7 thing realy bugs me cause the power cord gets out of the laptop often and then asking me to press fn+f7 every time. i dont know a way of disabling these popups. imagen you wanting to buy a new laptop and you go to the manifacturer website and you see the one you want is 2200 euro but you decide to look around to find any cheaper then you find a website that sells an alienware for 1700. you go to the manifacturer website put in the same configuration and you see it's 2000euro What do you do if your budget is normaly 1350? A; do you go for 1700 a little over your budget thinking a little upgrade cant hurt (knowing you can upgrade later...) B: you buy the 2000 laptop even though it's identical the same as the 1700 C: you check a few months later finding out that dell has released a new laptop and with new upgrades it probably be 2500. changing your mind every time you check. after you decided to buy the laptop you find out that the support of dell is mainly focussed on the sales in fact there is no 24/7 support but there is 24/7 sales. how do you feel? maybe now you will understand my frustration.
well led's not going black.. might be led or controller issue.... if you set that area manually does it go black, sorry if i missed you say this in the complaining..
second gmail is 3rd party and dell dosent have to provide support or assistant for anyhting outside of the provided software and making it work with its own programs/software/hardware, ect
im so lucky i got away from my M17X ..... amount of issues and so fourth, but dont complain to Chris he tries to help with the best he knows of and even directs you to a place were people know more then he does and it starts a flame war.....
sometimes the best place for online support isnt with actual company but a database with people that have had the issue and solved it like the link posted.
the leds do go black when pressing FN +F11. Here is a screenshot of what i mean:
i cant seem to select the black color what makes the led go off when im in vlc for zone 8 and zone 9. when leaving it open it just keeps my default so it doesnt go off.
