Factory image missing?

Hello,

I have an Alienware m17x R4 system, and I am now facing a few issues with it. Some of the issues are that I cannot open an elevated command prompt normally, and sometimes windows explorer cannot open some folders.

Because of that, I want to do a factory restore, but apparentely I cannot find the image that comes with the computer.

F8 seems not to work on boot, so I cannot get to the advanced startup screen to select Repair. When I do that in different ways (Like Shift+Reboot), the repair option isn't presented.

What I would like to know is if there is a way to get an image in a DVD (I have not done it before) to boot my notebook and recover it, or if any windows 8.1 image would suffice.

I tried doing that through alien respawn, and I can see an entry for the factory image, but it seems that I cannot select it, and when I restarted telling it to restore, nothing happened.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Windows 8.1 doesnt use F8.

They use the charms bar, system settings, refresh your pc.

You Gotta Scroll down and over to see this.

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

  2. Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.

  3. Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.

  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Thanks SpeedStep, but when I do that I receive this message:

"Could not find the recovery environment"

"Insert your recovery media, and restart with the media" (something like that)

That's why I asked about downloading an image to use as this media.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!
