My Aurora's fans only rev up when powering on. So this is not normal.

When they do rev up, fire up the command center and check the temps. If they are high, that's normal. If they are low, then try going manual and setting the speed yourself to your liking.

So this problem doesn't happen for you guys? It's always quiet and relatively quiet during gaming?

My Area 51 is just like your computer. About every ten min. or so it will rev up the fans for about a min and then go back down and be quite again. When playing a game it will rev up and be very loud untill I exit the game.

I got mine on Jan. 11th. About 5 days ago I started getting a " AllienFX as stopped working" on boot ups. I would then go into the program and run it again. Reinstalls did nothing to fix this. Yesterday the Master Control Board went dead. Right now I have no lights, vents and the fans are running at 100%. My guess is the board was going up and that was the cause of the fan ramp ups every ten min.

Took Dell tech support 2 hours to say "yes" its bad and send another one. It should here tomorrow. When it's installed I will let you know if the ramp ups go away.

Great man, thanks a lot. I would to have a quiet computer... Dell's advertising for this thing is very untrue. :(

My area 51 is having a similar issue. With no games running the fan speed is very quiet, however when a game starts the system fan is contantly on 4000 rpms and very loud. I phoned Dell and they tell me this is normal behaviour, but after seeing this post I am a little worried.
