Of course it still might be some other hardware or even software, but your monitor swapping does point to the video card.

For trouble-shooting, you could also install a small/old/under-powered card for testing. Does that machine have an on-board Intel video chip (might be deactivated when dedicated card is installed).

You will have to post a pic. While the video card is crammed in there, and there are size restrictions, the PCIe slot and power-connections are standard ... they have to be.

Graphics card, no "hooked" piece on end.

if your talking about that blue daughter board its not part of   the video  its an adaptor to relocate the  angle of the video card..  it dosent   require the J hook to   hold it down, since the card frame gets mounted to the chassis.. I have an X51 R3 .. that's normal what I see..

as for what I am assuming is the R1 since its a 3rd gen i7 ..  I  believe uses optimus technology...  are you  using the HDMI on the board or the video directly?  I have seen a lot of  issues with optimus and windows 10..

most found a work around using *older* windows 8 drivers..  or such not sure if  this was fixed yet or  not for older systems, but probably not..

yea have it much like already do when picture was taken with power unplugged.. just use the upper HDMI plug  which will be   the onboard  card..

since picture looks like card is a distance away I would assume power cables and all were disconnected form   it ..

For some reason when I first looked at this it only showed the first line of your post. I tried both hdMI ports when attempting to hook to my tv. And with my monitor I tried both ports for it as well.

So would I be able to take a new card and attach it to that piece to make it work?

the card comes out  of that assembly...

the pic  you posted shows the video card still attached and on the daughter board .. you need to remove it from that assembly.. what you posted isn't just the video card..  nor is  it the video card  only  its the part that slides onto motherboard that had video card  mounted into  it..

also again which HDMI output were you  using.. the top one  or the video card one...

video card/ daughterboard/ motherboard..

No, I have not. I'm really not experienced with these parts and am getting a little help from someone who has a bit more knowledge than i. But we obviously both are not well versed in the hardware department. Is that as simple as unhooking the gcard and running the pc?

just top one  uses the onboard.. and  bypasses the discrete..  its a known issue with optimus and windows 10 .....

have you tried running   it   using the onboard video with the Nvidia card removed entirely...

This is the card I had bought (and returned). Would something like that be able to be attached to the current piece? And if so, is that something I should take to a shop to have done? That seems like too easy an answer, I'm relieved and cautious at the same time lol.

The graphics card pictured is my current card. Replacement cards I've found all have the hook shaped piece on the end and my computer does not seem to have a slot for it to fit into. So if I am going to need a new card, then I'm at at loss as what to order. I didn't even realize it was different until I was unable to put the card in that I ordered. Thankfully they took it back no problem.

Im unable to do any type of software changes since I get no signal to my monitor. I have used dvi cord since I got the computer. I did an attempt of hooking it up hdmi a few days ago as a last hope that I could see something and got blank TV screen .

Nothing happened as far as the hdmi goes...But I also took the card out of the fixture and everything you've said makes sense and I feel like an idiot! I see now that the Card is what has the hooks.. I was not the one trying to install the new card. So I had never taken it apart this far..

So in your opinion, with this info and the above of hdmI not working, is a new card the best step? (I'm not even mad for feeling like a total blonde about this. Hah)

the card you linked is kinda big  downgrade regardless from current card  but not hard to replace.. simple and  how it  was removed..

if want power and speed a 760.. . or  better a 1060 or 1070 but price goes up ..

tried to  find  info  on why it wont show  screen with just the onboard but got not  a lot of   info on the subject :(  my dealings with optimus technology machines is  limited since every alienware system I owned was always manually switching graphics or dedicated only .. my laptops and my current X51 R3 ..
