Graphics card upgrade x51 R1

Hi. I'm new on this forum, so im sorry in advanced if I break any rules.

I bought myself a seconhand x51 r1 (2013) with the following specs:

i5 3330 @ 3,0gHz
nVidia 660 GTX @ 1,5GB
8 gb ram

and I upgraded to an SSD disk when I bought it.

I'm wondering what the most powerfull graphics card I can put in it, without any problems? Need to juice it up a bit ;-)

Hello,

We recommend the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 4GB video card upgrade. This is the highest upgrade that we can support for this system and it’s the next upgrade to the Nvidia 660 GTX that you currently have on the system. We would recommend using a power supply of 330W with the GTX 745 graphics card.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

GTX 745 is weaker than the GTX 660 by a good bit. OP, since you have the 330w PSU (as the R1/R2 with the GTX 660 shipped with a 330w PSU), a GTX 960 would do you good.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback.

I can only find a GTX 745 with 2GB memory.

As I said, I don't have any experience with building a computer etc, but I googled, and found this:

https://www.dustinhome.no/product/5010824143/strix-gtx960-dc2oc-4gd5#specifications

It's in norwegian, but do you know if this will fit in my x51 R1? I see the power consumption is listet at 150W

Thanks :-)

Well, the GTX 745 is an OEM GPU. Only OEMs like Dell supply them. That said, don't get that GTX 960. You'll want a GTX 960 with a reference cooler. Something like this: www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx (I'm currently busy, so I did not search in the website you linked us, but my link should give you an idea of what kind of 960 to get).
