HDMI In not working with m17X R3 after windows 10 upgrade
Hello,
I have an Alienware m17x R3. Before this upgrade to the Windows 10, I was using my laptop as a monitor for playing my PS4. It would have video with no audio, but I could easily bypass that hooking speakers to my controller. but since this recent upgrade, I now have audio, but I have no video.
When I plug the HDMI cable in, it will switch the screen and for a brief second, I can see the playstation home screen before the screen proceeds to go black. However I can still hear the audio.
FN+F8 still works to switch the source, but it always shows the playstation screen for a split sec, then goes black.
I have tried different HDMI cables, I have rebooted with HDMI cable not plugged in, I have tried an XBOX ONE and still the same thing happens.
not too much of a techy... help? [:'(][:'(]

Hello,
Unfortunately, according to the policy document, the M17x series will not be supported on Windows 10. Some users have successfully installed Windows 10 on these non-supported systems. But they did all the driver investigation (example = installing 7/8/8.1 drivers) to force it to work. Dell does not have the resources to do this on non-supported systems. Click here to view a thread from the Alienware Owners Club forum about a similar issue, it may be helpful.
