HDMI not detected

Hi! I have an Alienware m14x. I used to connect it to my tv using VGA, and now I tried to connect it using HDMI but by some reason it doesn't detect it. The screen doesn't change and in control panel i cant set it up because it doesnt even appear. Any help will be much appreciated!

Hi Daniel0592,

It is unfortunate that the HDMI is not getting detected. This could get fixed by updating drivers. You may use the below link to update Intel and NVIDIA drivers:

http://dell.to/14W6WxP Intel

http://dell.to/13SOQR7 NVIDIA Windows 7 and Windows 8

If the computer has any other Operating system apart from Windows 7 then you may use the below link:

Also make sure changes are made in TV input source so that it gets detected in system control panel.

If you have further questions do reply to the same post.

Hello! I called Dell support center and according to them my problem is because of the motherboard. Thats the most logical reason because I have the latest drivers and I tried connecting it to 4 different TVs. I just hope the mini DP works

Hi Daniel0592,

Thank you so much for updating me on this. I request you to use the below link to check if the computer is still in warranty:

Also update me if the technician advised replacement of motherboard.

If the computer is in warranty please send me the system service tag through private message so that I can check and let you know what needs to be done.

Hello Kiran! First of all thanks a lot for your attention. Thats one of the things I like from Dell. Indeed, when I called the support service they told me the only thing left to do was changing the motherboard, but my warranty ended december last year, so there's not many things to do now rather than live with this, because I really can't afford 5600 mexican pesos for it. So I'll just wait until its time to get a new alienware!
