Not sure if alienware ever released a service manual for the Hangar 18. Maybe ChrisM can find some kind of manual for you.

HAHA!  it mostly all works now :)

The heatsink (among other things) was missing a mounting screw and the cpu was not all the way plugged in.  So, took it all apart,  cleaned everything, replaced all missing screws, repaste, and its good to go!

Congrats, I am gald it is working for you. It is too bad Alienware/Dell does not do use this kind of form factor. I have been looking for a media center for awhile to store all my movies from. Right now I just have them on a HDD.

Yeah same here, I have always wanted on, but every single one that I would find had been hacked up really bad, missing parts, and didnt work right.

This one I knew was all there, so I could rebuild it to work right.

So, now that its mostly all working, I can upgrade some parts, and get it working better.

I picked up a gt430 today to replace the gpu thats in there, I need to find drivers for the little lcd on the front so it displays info like it should.

After I get this thing working perfect, I will be keeping a eye out for a mj12 workstation to build a home server box out of.

OK so I seem to have a problem with the system.

The computer will not boot, no post, no beep, nothing but fans turn on when I plug in a gpu.  As soon as I remove it the system starts perfect.  This happens with any of the gpus that I tried.  Old ati cards, nvidia cards, even brand new out of the box cards.

Thinking the pci slot slot is somehow toasted and causing this.

Any other ideas?

I am going to try plugging in a pci usb card tonight and see if it boots with that and the ports are usable.

If they are not, then a new motherboard is in this computers future.
