Hard Drive Issues - Alienware 14

Hi there,

I have been having some performance issues with my Alienware 14 laptop recently (glitching, slow, etc).

I ran a default scan using SupportAssist and it showed that my Western Digital hard drive had failed the targeted read test, linear read test and SMART short self test ( error codes : WHD20-7CD, WHD38-LYL and WHD16-3UK). However, running the stress test and performing a chkdsk showed no errors.

Can anyone help me to solve this issue or is it time to replace my hard drive?

Cheers

Hi,

Try running an ePSA /Diagnostic test from the Boot menu (tap the F12 key during boot to access this menu, then select the option from the list). This test will check the main hardware components including the Hard Drive, let me know if you receive any error codes during this test.

I'd immediately back up any important data you have on that drive to a USB stick/external drive.  It sounds like that drive is failing.  Do yourself a favor and replace it with an SSD!
